River & Plains Society
The River and Plains Society, Inc. is the non-profit organization that operates Historic Old Fort Benton, the Museum of the Northern Great Plains, Homestead Village, the Overholser Historical Research Center, the Schwinden Library and Archives, the Montana Agricultural Center, and the Museum of the Northern Great Plains.
Their mission is to preserve and interpret the rich heritage of this historic area (Fort Benton, Chouteau County, and the northern Great Plains) for area residents, their children, and visitors from around the world.
The River and Plains Society's Vision is to provide professional and caring oversight of the legacy passed from generation to generation and, within the scope of their resources, to provide visitors and researchers with the best overall historic experience of any small town in Montana.
The museums will open for the season on May 26th and will close on October 1st.

Benton RV Park & Campground
Benton RV Park & Campground offers 27 RV sites with full hook-ups, free wifi, and beautiful scenery. To the north is Shep’s burial site and to the east is the Missouri River. We also have 3 dry cabins and a 10X12 wall tent available for campers, along with a spacious tent area. We have showers and a laundromat.

Grand Union Hotel
Today the Grand Union Hotel, built in 1882 and is Montana’s Oldest Operating Hotel, provides 26 luxurious guest rooms on two floors exquisitely restored with historic furnishings. There is elevator access to the guest rooms and the hotel is handicap accessible. Each room has a deluxe private bath – some with jetted tubs – direct dial phone with voice mail, free wifi, cable television, desk and individually controlled heat and air conditioning. Many rooms have views of the Missouri River.
The hotel’s award wining Union Grille Restaurant is open for dinner 5-9 pm during the winter Wednesday through Sunday and during the summer Wednesday throughMonday.
